The Thomas E. Edwards Sr. High School Lady Tigers have been one of the hottest teams around.
The Lady Tigers (26-4) have won 19 games in a row. Senior standout and Ole Miss signee Jacorriah Bracey has been leading the way with sophomore Shamiyah Thomas and senior Tykirra Nash producing as of late.
TEESHS will try to stretch that winning streak to 20 games as the Lady Tigers will play the Belmont Lady Cardinals (28-4) in the quarterfinals of the 3A State Girls Basketball Playoffs at Itawamba Community College in Fulton.
Lady Tigers head coach Chiquita Bracey said her team is ready for action in the quarterfinals.
“We are excited and fired up about our road to state,” Bracey said. “Our players are focused, and I hope I’m directing and shaping their minds to cultivate a winning culture at Thomas E. Edwards High School.”
Belmont has also been a superb team all year. The Lady Cardinals started the season 14-0. After a brief two-game losing streak toward the end of the year, the Lady Cardinals are currently riding a five-game winning streak.
The Lady Tigers are in the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2015. Bracey is in her eighth season as head coach at TEESHS and has posted a record of 152-70.
The winner of the Thomas E. Edwards-Belmont game will play Tylertown in the semifinals at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
