Vicksburg 56, Cleveland Central 51
The Cleveland Central High School Lady Wolves saw their season come to an end as they fell to the Vicksburg High School Missy Gators Friday in the second round of the 5A State Basketball Playoffs in Vicksburg.
Takiela Wright scored 21 points to lead the Lady Wolves.
CCHS finished the year at 22-7.
4A State Boys Basketball Playoffs
Bayou finishes fourth at state
The Bayou Academy Colts finished fourth in the 4A State Boys Basketball Tournament at Hartfield Academy in Flowood this weekend.
Bayou lost to Hillcrest 75-51 Friday in the semifinals and Heritage 61-31 in the consolation game Saturday.
Bayou concluded its season at 17-16.
3A State Girls Basketball Playoffs
Thomas E. Edwards 65, Independence 49
Thomas E. Edwards Sr. High School Lady Tigers picked up another win as they defeated the Independence High School Lady Wildcats in the second round of the 3A State Girls Basketball Playoffs Friday in Ruleville.
Thomas E. Edwards improved to 26-4 and will play Belmont in the quarterfinals of the 3A State Girls Basketball Playoffs Friday at Itawamba Community College in Fulton.
Jacorriah Bracey scored 28 points with 14 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Lady Tigers, followed by Shamiyah Thomas with 14 points and eight rebounds and Tykirra Nash with 10 points and two steals.
2A State Boys Basketball Playoffs
Calhoun City 60, Northside 44
The Northside High School Gators saw their year come to a close as they lost to the Calhoun City Wildcats Saturday in the second round of the 2A State Boys Basketball Playoffs in Calhoun City.
The Northside High School Gators finished the year at 16-14.
1A State Boys Basketball Playoffs
Ray Brooks 52, Mount Olive 48
The Ray Brooks High School Tigers kept their season alive by earning a hard-fought win over Mount Olive Friday in the second round of the 1A State Boys Basketball Playoffs at Mount Olive.
Ray Brooks will now play Shaw in the quarterfinals of the 1A State Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Pearl River Community College.
West Lowndes 56, West Bolivar 41
The West Bolivar High School Eagles saw their season come to an end as they lost to West Lowndes Saturday in the second round of the 1A State Boys Basketball Playoffs in Columbus.
West Bolivar concluded its season at 16-14.
