Bertram Stewart Wade Jr., born February 1, 1949, in Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019, in Memphis, TN.
He was seventy years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertram Stewart and Annie Lee Thornton Wade; his aunt, Coach Margaret Wade; and true love, Jan Partee.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Edward Wade of Cleveland.
Bert grew up in Cleveland where he was active in scouting, including a memorable trip to the 1964 Boy Scout Jamboree in Valley Forge, PA, and an officer in his Explorer Post sponsored by the Cleveland Bolivar County Civil Defense. Bert was a member of the Cleveland Wildcat Football team, a graduate of Cleveland High School and Delta State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Bert also traveled with “Coach” as she received many of her basketball awards and honors.
Bert owned an antiques store, worked as an architectural draftsman and in the aviation industry in both Louisiana and Tennessee. He was an avid motor sports fan, marksman, and rose grower. Bert will be remembered for his wit, generosity and Southern charm.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Crawdad’s in Merigold from 2-4 p.m.
