The Bolivar Commercial has been provided with the following statement from the City of Cleveland addressing recent concerns over water billing:
“The City of Cleveland recognizes that some of its citizens have recently received water bills which are higher than water bills these same citizens have received in the past. The City apologizes for any confusion these bills have caused its residents. The City has experienced major difficulties with its water meter system and is now involved in litigation with the companies which provide the meters and the system itself.
Because the system has been having difficulties, the City has now hired personnel to manually read meters to assure accurate bills are being sent to residents. While every situation is different, these higher water bills are likely the result of the City now sending an accurate bill based on a person reading the water meter.
The City will work with its residents in every possible way to address concerns over water bills and apologizes again for any confusion any resident has over their bill. If you have any concerns regarding your bill, please contact City Hall.”
