The Northside High School Gators continued to steamroll over the competition as they defeated the Eupora High School Eagles 54-0 in the second round of the 2A State Playoffs Friday in Eupora.
The Gators, the No. 5 team in the Mississippi Associated Press 2A Top 5 Poll, improved to 12-0 and will host the East Webster Wolverines (11-1) in the third round of the playoffs. East Webster beat Pelahatchie 36-35 in its second-round contest.

Northside has a 15-game winning streak dating back to last season.
Gators head coach Tavares Johnson said going on the road for the second round wasn’t a big deal for his team.
“Right now, they have tunnel vision,” Johnson said. “Me and my staff are playing a one-game season because our ultimate goal is to win it all. We’ve said that from the very beginning. We just want to win it all. Whatever we have to do and where ever we have to go to do that, we’re going to do it. We weren’t bent out of shape that we had to go on the road to play. We said let’s take our show on the road.”
On offense for the Gators, Karltavis Burrage had a huge game as he caught two passes for 62 yards with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion catch and returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown.

On defense and special teams combined, Northside had five fumble recoveries.
