The Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at 4:30 a.m. Friday to a business on White Street.
According to Cleveland Fire Inspector Greg Jackson, “The fire started on the outside of the building. We are diligently doing an investigation to figure out what happened. There was a gentleman trying to open a business there.”
The business was going to be a convenience store.
“The fire was fully involved when we got there. Firefighters stayed there for about two and a half to three hours. We contained it to the building. It was a pretty substantial loss. When we arrived it had already gotten into the attic and burned most of the attic out,” said Jackson.
Samples have been sent to the lab and Jackson said the fire is still under investigation.
