The New Life Church Inc. will host its 10th annual Miletus Covenant Connection: Summons From the Son Conference Sunday through Tuesday at The New Life Church Inc. in Renova.
Bishop Roderick Mitchell is the leader of the Miletus Covenant Connection, which is a fellowship of Christian churches and ministries.
“The Lord had begun to perpetually proclaim in my spirit that you are not only a leader to layman but also a leader to leaders,” said Mitchell.
From this, he began to seek counsel from Nathaniel Holcomb, presiding bishop of Covenant Connection International, who consecrated Mitchell as a bishop in 2013.
“In seeking his counsel on this matter, he confirmed what the Spirit of God had been declaring in my heart,” said Mitchell.
“The name Miletus was spoken to my heart from Acts 20: 17-18: ‘And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church. And when they had come to him, he said to them …’ Miletus means ‘pure white fine wool’,” said Mitchell.
“From this, the Spirit of God stated that my assignment is to have ministers and ministries to come and he would use me to assist them in their development regarding their destiny.”
Mitchell said this conference has had so much success throughout the years and there is a continuous growth in the support as well as the affect on our community.
“The impact and the influence of the fellowship, not just the teaching of the word, but people spending this quality time together in this atmosphere has been very beneficial not just the lives of individuals, but to the lives of our families, to the lives of our churches in this locality, and nationwide,” said Mitchell.
When the conference began, Mitchell funded it personally as well as through the church but as the conference has grown; other churches have become involved and donated funds.
Mitchell said even with the success of the conference, he has no intention of expanding other areas just yet.
“One of the reasons being, because of the way that this was set up biblically. This was set for the people to come to the leader, and if we move this to another city or place, it could potentially be a distraction from the actual purpose of the conference,” he said.
“As it relates to everything, my prayer with God proceeds my decisions in all aspects of the conference. I didn’t choose him, he chose me.
“If God leads me to bring a big named celebrity to the conference, that’s what I will do.”
He added, “I desire to do what God wants done by continually availing myself to him so that it can be done.”
Services of the conference will be at 10 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday daily and at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday daily.
