District 1-AA Tournament
Bayou Boys finish 2nd.
The Bayou Academy Colts finished second in the District 1-AA Tournament at Indianola Academy in Indianola.
Bayou won Friday’s semifinal game over Kirk 44-26 but lost the championship game to the Indianola Academy Colonels 61-50 on Saturday.
Bayou pushed its record to 19-13.
On Friday, Clifton Shavers led the Colts with 13 points, followed by Nat Jones with 11 points, Peyton Aldridge with 10 points and Hayden Fleming with eight points.
On Saturday, Jones led the Colts with 13 points, followed by Shavers and Fleming with 10 points each and Aldridge with eight points.
Bayou will begin its run in the North AA Tournament on Tuesday at Bayou Academy when Bayou will play Leake (District 2, No. 1 seed) at 7:45 p.m. The winner of Tuesday’s game will play at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in a semifinal game.
Bayou Girls finish 3rd
The Bayou Academy Lady Colts took third in the District 1-AA Tournament at Indianola Academy in Indianola.
Bayou lost Friday’s semifinal game to Kirk 57-31 but came back to win Saturday’s consolation game against Lee 41-29 to earn a berth into the North AA Tournament which will be hosted by Bayou Academy in Cleveland.
On Friday, Chrissy Tubbs led Bayou with 13 points.
On Saturday, Taylor Ann Bailey led Bayou with 16 points, followed by Tubbs with nine points.
Bayou pushed its record to 22-15.
Bayou will play Oak Hill (No. 3 seed, District 1) at 6 p.m. tonight in the first round of the North AA Tournament. The winner of tonight’s game will take on Riverfield (District 3, No. 1 seed) at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
District 2-A Tournament
NSA Boys finish 4th
The North Sunflower Academy Rebels finished fourth in the District 2-A Tournament at Delta Academy in Marks.
NSA lost Friday’s semifinal game to Delta 66-31 and lost Saturday’s consolation game to Deer Creek 63-51.
NSA fell to 12-13.
On Friday, Jerry Mitchell led NSA with nine points, followed by Dylan Lofton with seven points and six rebounds.
On Saturday, Lucas Garrett led the Rebels with 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals, followed by Jerry Mitchell with 15 points.
NSA will play Marshall (District 1, No. 1 seed) in the first round of the North A Tournament at Delta Academy in Marks on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Tunica-Delta game on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
