3A State Playoffs

Ruleville 58, Nettleton 38

The Ruleville Central Tigers continued to stay hot as they defeated the Nettleton High School Tigers in the second round of the 3A State Boys Basketball Playoffs Saturday night in Ruleville. 

Ruleville (22-9) will advance to the quarterfinals where they'll play Jefferson Davis County Saturday at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. Nettleton concluded its year at 21-10. 

5A State Playoffs

Callaway 77, Cleveland Central 62

The Cleveland Central High School Wolves' dream of a state championship this season evaporated as they lost to the Callaway High School Chargers Saturday night in the second round of the 5A State Boys Basketball Playoffs in Jackson. 

Kamarian Williams led the Wolves with 19 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Peyton Taylor with 11 points and five rebounds, Quintiyus Causey with 11 points and four rebounds and Tyler Williams with nine points and five rebounds. 

CCHS concluded its year at 22-9, while Callaway improved to 24-5 and will play Stone Friday in the quarterfinals at the Mississippi Coliseum. 

1A State Playoffs

Okolona 87, Shaw 55

A trip back to Jackson just wasn't in the cards for the Shaw High School Hawks as they lost to the Okolona Chieftains Saturday in the second round of the 1A State Boys Basketball Playoffs at Okolona.

Shaw concluded its season at 9-17. Okolona improved to 28-2 and will play East Marion Thursday in the quarterfinals at the Mississippi Coliseum. 

Houlka 79, Ray Brooks 56

The Ray Brooks High School Tigers had a rough time in the second round of the 1A State Boys Basketball Playoffs as they fell hard to the Houlka Wildcats Saturday in Benoit.

Ray Brooks ended its season at 15-11, while Houlka improved to 25-6 and will play Leake County Thursday in the quarterfinals at the Mississippi Coliseum. 

Girls Basketball

1A State Playoffs

Tremont 54, Broad Street 49

The Broad Street High School Lady Jaguars saw their season come to an end as they lost to the Tremont High School Lady Eagles Friday in the second round of the 1A State Girls Basketball Playoffs at the Isaiah Peterson Gymnasium in Shelby.

Broad Street concluded its season at 18-6, while Tremont improved to 16-12 and will play Leake County in the quarterfinals Thursday at Jackson State University.

Pine Grove 80, JFK 24

The John F. Kennedy Lady Hornets saw their year come to an end as they lost to the Pine Grove Lady Panthers Friday in the second round of the 1A State Girls Basketball Playoffs in Ripley.

JFK concluded its year at 9-15, while Pine Grove will play Durant in the quarterfinals Thursday at Jackson State University.

3A State Playoffs 

Choctaw County 64, Ruleville 61

 The Ruleville Central Lady Tigers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Choctaw County Lady Chargers Friday in the second round of the 1A State Girls Basketball Playoffs in Ackerman. 

Jacoriah Bracey led the Lady Tigers with 46 points. 

Ruleville concluded it year at 16-12, while Choctaw County will play Jefferson Davis County in the quarterfinals Saturday at Jackson State University. 

2A State Playoffs

Ingomar 79, West Bolivar 27

The West Bolivar High School Lady Eagles saw their season come to a halt Friday night in the second round of the 2A State Girls Basketball Playoffs at New Albany. 

West Bolivar ended its year at 16-18, while Ingomar improved to 34-1 and will play Pelahatchie Friday in the quarterfinals at Jackson State University.
