The Bayou Academy Lady Colts had a good weekend on the softball diamond as they won the Simpson Academy Softball Tournament in Mendenhall Saturday.
Bayou improved to 8-3. The Lady Colts lost the first game 3-2 but won the next three games. They defeated Tri-County 7-2, Canton 11-5 and Simpson Academy in the championship game 5-3.
Against Simpson, Kamryn Otts suffered the tough luck loss as she gave up two unearned runs on four hits with four strikeouts in four innings of work.
Ana Parker Davis tagged a hit and drove in a run to lead Bayou, followed by Kailyn Lofton, Ashley Vickers and Chrissy Tubbs with a hit each and Carley Peden with a RBI.
Against Tri-County, Ashley Vickers and Madison Jenkins combined on a three-inning one-hitter with Madison earning the win. Vickers gave up two runs on one hit and walked four in 1 1/3 innings of work, while Jenkins didn’t give up a hit but walked three in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Lofton tagged two hits and drove in a run and drove in a run to lead the Lady Colts, followed by Tubbs with two hits and Vickers and Shelby Newsom with a hit and two RBIs each.
Against Canton, Tubbs earned the win in the circle as she struck out two and walked one in three shutout innings of work. She also helped her cause at the plate by tagging three hits and driving in two runs. Vickers aided Bayou with three hits, followed by Lofton, Newsom and Brantley Hutchinson with two hits and a RBI each.
In the championship game, Vickers earned the win in the circle as she struck out three and walked two in a three-inning complete game. Newsom, Tubbs and Hutchinson stroked two hits each to lead Bayou at the plate.
